Flag day applications invited for 2019

Wednesday, 15 August 2018 14:15

Douglas Town Centre Management is inviting applications from charities wishing to hold street collections and flag days in Douglas town centre in 2019.

Douglas Town Centre Manager Oliver Cheshire said: ‘There are so many charities in the Island doing tremendous work to transform people’s lives. All these good causes, though, are having to operate in an economic climate that’s placing added pressure on people’s charitable giving priorities.

‘Town centre street collections are a great way for charities to connect directly with the public and inform them about their work. We’re finding more and more charities are showing incredible ingenuity when it comes to catching people’s attention and Douglas Town Centre Management will be pleased to work with them to increase their visibility.’

Under the Borough of Douglas General Byelaws 1991, 28 applications will be considered in any one year (not including emergency two-day street collections following a disaster appeal).

Douglas Borough Council will also consider applications for licences in non-town centre areas of Douglas on a first-come, first-served basis.

The deadline for applications for 2019 is Friday November 9 2018.
