Douglas Borough Council are seeking to recruit to the permanent position of Craftsman Labourer within the Housing Maintenance Section. You will assist qualified tradesmen with their day to day duties undertaking a broad range of maintenance tasks. You must have proven experience working within a construction or building services industry, along with good educational standard to GCSE Level or equivalent. If you are physically fit and able to carry out manual handling operations, and have a full clean valid driving licence, then we would welcome an application from you.
The Housing Maintenance Section are looking for an experienced and qualified Joiner to join their existing team, where you will carry out joinery repairs along with making immediate decisions about repair requirements.
For this role you will need to have:
- City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent qualification in Joinery
- Experience of completing daily work sheets and using
- Ability to work with good attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong planning and organisational ability
- Ability to deal with general public and difficult customers
- Willingness to attend call outs
- Full clean valid driving licence
As the Assistant Arborist you will be required to ensure the care and maintenance of the Council owned trees. You must have previous experience working in Arboriculture which includes tree climbing, pruning and planting, as well as holding a NPTC certificate in chainsaw proficiency. A full clean valid driving licence is also essential.

A vacancy has arisen for a permanent Waste Service’s Operative (Street Scene & ECAS). If you can work as part of a team undertaking a full range of street cleaning functions incorporating manual and mechanical methods of operation then we would welcome an application from you. We are looking for a Housing Assistant who can work as part of the Housing Customer Services team. You will be delivering a front line service, assisting with enquiries relating to tenancy issues, rental payments and repair requests. As part of this role, you will be providing administrative support and assistance to officers in the housing section.
