We are seeking to appoint to the role of Assistant Chief Officer (Democratic Services). The ideal candidate for this unique position within the Council will work alongside the Chief Executive and will be a key support in managing the Council’s decision-making process and will provide advice, support and information to the Democratic Services Team, elected Members and senior officers across all departments. Suitable candidates should have:


  • Extensive senior leadership and management experience
  • An understanding of corporate decision making, constitutional matters and legal environment of local government including the ability to manage complex issues
  • An understanding of Freedom of Information requirements and General Data Protection Regulations
  • Ability to interpret complex legislation, statutory guidance and the Constitution and administer local Elections
  • Ability to act as the Monitoring Officer and advise and lead on Standards Committee and the Members’ Code of Conduct
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex guidance and be confident in providing advice to Members and Officers in a range of meeting situations


The post-holder will be required to:


  • Service a range of Committees (including the Executive Committee in the absence of the Chief Executive)
  • Demonstrate political sensitivity, attention to detail, effective prioritisation skills
  • Lead, develop and motivate individuals and work well in a team

We are looking for an Administrator to assist with the provision of a comprehensive administrative and technical support to the Fleet Services Team. The successful candidate will be the initial point of contact for all queries. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s which should include English and Maths at grade C, or above, along with previous experience working within a maintenance workshop environment It is essential you have good communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to prioritise workload. A full clean valid driving licence is also required.
