Green Flag judges welcomed to the Mayor's parlour

Green Flag judges Tim Speller and David Brown were welcomed to the Town Hall on Thursday May 2 by His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Jon Joughin JP, ahead of touring the sites submitted for this year's awards.

In 2018 the Council was awarded eight Green Flags by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy: for Noble’s Park, Douglas Golf Course, Douglas Head, Douglas Borough Cemetery, Hutchinson Square, the Marine Gardens, Derby Square and Summerhill Glen.

 

The Green Flag award scheme takes into account environmental, management and future planning policies along with community involvement. It is judged by more than 700 experts and is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces across the British Isles, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
