The mayoral charity appeal has been boosted by £1500 thanks to HMS Vigilant, which enjoys a civic affiliation with Douglas.

The team of 11 submariners spent time in the Isle of Man in September as part of an epic bike fundraising bike ride from their home port of Clyde Naval Base.

During their visit the team also tackled the TT course to raise funds for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines charity.

The cheque was presented to His Worship the Mayor Councillor Stan Cain JP at a reception in Douglas town hall for visiting service personnel taking part in this year’s Remembrance Sunday service.

The £1500 will benefit Cruse Bereavement Care, the Douglas Live at Home Scheme and St Mary’s Lourdes Youth.
