Community Awards scheme

Councillor Mrs Natalie Byron-Teare has launched this years' Community Award  Scheme to recognise two individuals who have committed significantly to the City of Douglas. We are looking for your Community Champion and Young Hero and want to celebrate those people who have made an outstanding contribution to their local community.

 

If you know a Community Champion or a Young Hero then we would love to hear from you!

 

 

 

 

Community Champion

 

This one’s for ordinary people making an extra ordinary difference to the lives of others. It could be someone who helps the vulnerable or disadvantaged, a charity volunteer or a tireless fundraiser. Don’t forget people who are not part of an organisation.

 

Young Hero

 

We want to recognise any young person 15 or under who has made a stand to improve the lives of others within their community.

 

Nominations for the ‘Community Champion’ and ‘Young Hero’ Awards are now open. The closing date for receipt of nominations is Monday, 31st July, 2023. Nominees must live within the City.

 

There is no pre-determined criteria on what a ‘significant contribution to the local community’ might be however it could be any of the following;

  • Long and sustained service to the local community
  • Achievements / actions that are of an inspiring nature to the local community
  • Activities that have benefited  the City or its people
